Dear Westside Family,

Your participation in Unshakeable is making our church-family grow in faith and love. Together we are seeing many people coming to Jesus, being baptized, taking steps toward healing and health, and growing in faith, generosity, and service. As a church we are becoming more Unshakeable in our pursuit of Jesus. Thank you!

We have made great progress behind the scenes to prepare to build our Family Care Center facility. But first, we want you to know that we are not waiting for our new facility to arrive to build  Westside’s care capacity. By adding counselors in the first half of 2024, we have delivered 30% more counseling sessions than in the first half of 2023! Our Care Groups have continued to grow to provide support to more families, and we have trained dozens of our leaders in Trauma Informed Care. We have also launched 12 Area Communities. Westside is becoming stronger at loving people and leading them toward true wholeness in Jesus.

Through many efforts that are not as visible, we have completed numerous tasks and approvals required for our Care Center building permit: Project design, site engineering, construction planning, budgeting and bidding, Lenexa Planning Commission review and approval, City Council approval, JOCO zoning re-plat approval and recording, multiple JOCO Utilities reviews and revisions, state environmental certification, performance bond, the extensive Lenexa Building Permit requirements process, and City of Lenexa mandatory pre-construction meeting(and that’s just the shortlist!).

Now, our last unfinished requirement to obtain our building permit and start construction is the resolution of the Woodsonia Drive extension plan and permit. As I shared previously, the City of Lenexa is collaborating with several surrounding developers (including Westside) to create a ‘Woodsonia Drive Special Benefit District’—a cooperative that will fund the extension of Woodsonia Drive from our circle all the way south to connect to Prairie Star Parkway. This will enable the development of over 1000 family units along the completed Woodsonia Drive. All the adjacent developers also need this road to be resolved to commence their projects, and they are actively moving forward with their developments. Now that Westside has completed all our requirements for our building permit, we are on hold until the Woodsonia Drive Benefit District is in place before we can break ground on our Family Care Center.

We’ve worked expeditiously to complete all requirements within our control and are now praying that everything comes together for our neighboring developers so the Benefit District can move forward. Most of all, we’re asking you to join us to pray for God’s favor so we can begin sooner than later. We’re chomping at the bit to get started! Let’s pray together with Unshakeable faith for our project to move forward in His perfect timing.
